Selah Sanchez is a woman of few spoken words and too many written ones. She’s also a sophomore Creative Writing major. Her pastimes besides writing are baking, reading, and singing. She sews a little too sometimes, as a treat. Her writing is a jumpy, fickle creature– much like herself– of numerous subjects and forms, mostly settling on fantasy and magical realism. When not writing or doing college, she’s taking a stroll, contemplating rats, or both. She’s happy to be here, and hopes you are too.

Lauren Sieberg is a graduate student in eager pursuit of dual English and Creative Writing masters degrees. A special corner of her heart is dedicated to middle-grade, vampiric, and/or punch-packing fiction. When she’s not writing monstrous humans and humanized monsters, you can probably find her napping, instructing her rhetoric course, or baking for her tabletop sessions.
social media manager
Emma Schroeter is a senior Creative Writing major from Vista, California. She's got a new favorite song queued up at least weekly, so you'll always see her on campus with her headphones on. When she's not jamming out to her tunes, she's editing videos, reading, experimenting with her outfits, or embarking on some artsy endeavor. She's thrilled to join the team this year and help highlight the work of many incredible storytellers. Her favorite genres are any variation of fantasy and science fiction, but she has a special place in her heart for anything Pokémon-related.

director
Brianna Velez is a second year Creative Writing major who loves writing fantasy and sci-fi. Her work is currently published in the Fall 2024 issue of Ouroboros Magazine. She currently holds the positions of Art Director and editor for the magazine, and is so excited to be able to showcase all the wonderful art and writing of Chapman’s students because she truly believes in the magic of story.

Hailey Shimazu is a graphic design major. With a love for design, photography, and film, they’re truly passionate about all forms of art. They enjoy the simple things in life like foam soap, small spoons, and cute keychains. When they aren’t saving Gotham City from danger, they can be found rewatching the same tv shows or eating shrimp chips.

I have seen Ameen Veach in the shallow blinking of the southern star, and in the dead of the winds that howl around the wildflowers beneath it. He skulks there, that dread thing, festering all sick and pallid. Where he lurks there is terror, and of that terror, that which stalks the night...
He also helped make this magazine!

Tim Deutschman (fiction editor) is a sophomore pursuing his Creative Writing major. He enjoys spending his time hanging out with friends and playing story-rich video games. He is a big fan of anything that has to do with superheroes, mainly Spider-Man. He also enjoys stand-up comedy. His goal in life is to create a superhero universe that spreads across different art forms in order to show that a person’s differences are what makes them extraordinary.

Ella Murry (fiction editor) is a freshman Creative Writing major and Honors minor from Portland, Oregon. She's been reading and writing for as long as she can remember and is obsessed with fantasy stories and Disney! She also loves singing, acting, and drawing- anything creative, really. She hopes to publish best-selling novels one day but enjoys editing others' stories for now.
Calissa McNutt (fiction editor) is in her final year of pursuing a BFA in Creative Writing and French. Her favorite hobbies include knitting, crocheting, and reading. Calissa recently went to New Zealand on a semester abroad, and can't wait to write fantastical stories from the experiences, including visiting Hobbiton. She looks forward to reading your speculative stories this semester.

Emily McEachin (visual art editor) is a third-year English major and Environmental Studies minor. Her favorite things include books (duh), a warm cup of tea, and eavesdropping for inspiration. When not reading or writing, she can be found deep in thought.
Logan Picunko (fiction editor) is a skittish senior creative writer with a passion for science, history, and nature. Ask him about Dinosaurs (or any other extinct fauna) and this guy with yap yap yap all day long. Logan’s favorite genres are Sci-Fi, low-to-high fantasy, and supernatural horror and his favorite trope is the ultimate last stand. When the characters have their backs against the wall and all that’s left now is to let loose!
Raquel Head (visual art editor) is a senior Creative Writing major with a deep love and appreciation for Fantasy and, as a whole, a girl who always wanted wings of her own.

Avery Marks is a Creative Writing major from Happy Valley, Oregon, and yes, it is fairly happy there with the gorgeous greenery and sweater weather. While she appreciates the California weather for aesthetic outdoor cafe reading and writing, she prefers cozying up inside with hot tea or iced (yes iced I’m from the PNW) coffee as it rains. She’s excited to be on the team as a designer and continue to grow creatively outside of her passion for the written word while supporting other creatives. A couple of her favorite pieces within Ouroboros’s genres are “The Alchemist” and “The Labyrinth.”
Fish Young (they/he) is, like most people, afraid of spiders but is too proud to admit it. They are also the host of the sci-fi horror satire podcast, “The Dreamer’s Almanac”. The show has been awarded a scholarly grant by Chapman University and premiered via Chapman Radio. Fish is also (unfortunately) a gothic novelty artist, which is their fancy third person way of saying “I make ridiculously vibrant digital art that make surrealists cry tears of melting clocks.” Whatever you need Fish to do, they will try their best to do it. If anyone asks what they want for their birthday, it’s health insurance. They were too much of a coward to join the film school, but silly enough to become an English major and Music Tech minor.
